Lane Adams Promoted to Associate Vice President of Treasury and Financial Management at MSU

Michigan State University (MSU) Finance today announced the promotion of Lane Adams to the position of Assistant Vice President of the Department of Treasury and Financial Management (TFM). This recognition celebrates Lane's outstanding contributions to the university's financial stewardship, particularly during her tenure as the interim director of TFM since July 2024.

In her newly appointed role, Lane will continue to steer the daily operations of treasury services at MSU. This includes her pivotal role as the primary liaison between the university and its banking partners. She is responsible for managing operating cash flows, implementing strategic cash management initiatives, and overseeing the administration of the university's endowments. Additionally, her duties encompass managing debt to ensure compliance with financial agreements and issuing new debt to meet institutional needs.

Lane's journey at MSU began in March 2009, when she joined the Treasury and Financial Management office. Her prior role as Senior Manager of Treasury Services provided her with a robust foundation in managing the university's treasury activities. Her exemplary performance in this position was a testament to her readiness for the interim director role, which she has navigated with significant success.

Before joining MSU, Lane enriched her experience with diverse roles in corporate finance, including positions at a commercial real estate firm, a professional employer organization, and a global automotive parts manufacturer.
Academically, Lane holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Walsh College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2002. She further solidified her professional credentials by becoming a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) in 2013.
